Map of Flywheeler Park:
|
The
Florida Flywheelers Club purchased 160 acres in 1997.
Because the shows have become so popular, another
80 acres was purchased in 2001.
The
Village started out as storage buildings with a country
flair. Now there are more than 48 buildings on the
20 acre site. To be in the village, buildings and
their contents must be from 1950 or older.
The
Tractor Pull Arena is used
on a monthly basis and sports competition for garden
tractors, antique tractors, and steam traction engines.
The
picnic shed behind the Village Church was built by
volunteers and hosts club events.
The
Village and Park buildings have all been built by
volunteers. Each building in the village is the pet
project of a member family or group of members who
share work and expenses to build and maintain their
exhibit.
The
Snow Engine (designed and built by the Snow company)
has a 12 foot diameter flywheel. It was used to pump
natural gas and was retired from service due to the
high energy cost to run it. Our members are restoring
it to working condition for a permanent display. One
of our members, Mr. Batcher, has carved a working
wooden model of the engine which is on display in
his barn in the Village.
Monthly
meetings, work weekends and play times bring the club
members together. If you are interested in joining,
